ABOUT
CLOSING THE GAP
In April 2020, a group of concerned community members recognized that many undocumented immigrants in Washington, DC, could not access food services. Therefore, the Close the Gap program was developed in response to this gap. This food insecurity program focuses on undocumented immigrant families experiencing food insecurity in Washington, DC., Silver Spring, & Gaitherbsurg.

During the
COVID-19 Pandemic
,

families were
gifted with a $100 Giant Gift Card, masks, gloves, hand sanitizers, & a turkey for Thanksgiving. Since then, wehave assisted on average of 70 families per month and provided them with courses on nutrition, financial literacy, and entrepreneurship trainings.

This program is in partnership with many of the Greater Washington Hispanic Construction Companies and other non-profit organizations and local churches. Our work is done in collaboration with the families receiving the assistance through their volunteerism.
